YOUTH EXCHANGE IN ELBASAN, ALBANIA

During 23rd – 29th  of May 40 participants from B&H, Slovakia ,Serbia and Albania had the opportunity to see youth initiatives and projects in Elbasan, getting  to know and compare different working methods in several contexts.

The first 2 days 40 participants have been involved in different activities in Elbasan with the aim of building networks between them, and also exchanging cultural aspects during cultural evenings organized from each group of participants.

On 25th of May the groups had the chance to visit the Municipality of Elbasan and were welcomed by the Mayor and other representatives who presented the main services that the municipality offers for Young People and the role of Youth Directory.

Youth groups had several meetings with Youth Non-Governmental Organization, such as LRER in Elbasan who organized e very interactive presentation of their activity especially in advocating and promoting Roma and Egyptian community rights.

The meeting was very productive because the participants were involved in discussing the main similarities and differences between Albania and other countries regarding the Roma community situation and approach of NGO-s in regard.  

During the Youth Exchange Visit the participants had the opportunity to get interactively involved in Partnere per Femijet local youth projects in Elbasan, where in cooperation with Roma Community Center they got the chance not only to visit the center but also to be part of the psychosocial activities that young people conducted with children from Roma Community.

Jocelyn Foundation, one of the NGO-S  in Elbasan, welcomed all participants in their premises where they presented their activity and projects such as “Empowering Social Enterprising in Albania” where the young people had the chance to know more on Albanian tradition with handicraft products of their factory  but also the role of their projects in empowering people in need, especially women.

On 28th of May, Youth Clubs from Mahir Domi presented to the participants with their Career Counseling Resource Center supported by Partnere per Femijet and also Service Learning Youth Projects conducted by them in Community.

The project “Action for Roma Engagement, Entrepreneurship, Employment and Empowerment- ACT4ROM” is implemented by Međunarodno udruženje “Interaktivne otvorene škole” (MIOS) Tuzla in cooperation with partner organizations from Serbia, Pomoć deci, Slovakia, Wide Open School – Škola Dokoran, and Albania, Partnere per Femijet.


The project is implemented under the Erasmus + program and is funded by the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture, which operates under the authority delegated by the European Commission.
